How the program works
1
How can you save money by NOT getting solar?Large solar farms get built on warehouse rooftops and commercial properties around NJ — nowhere near your home. NJ law requires that residents who sign up to support these farms receive a share of the savings. You never get solar yourself. You never touch solar. The farm is somewhere else entirely — you just get the financial benefit of it on your bill.
2
NJ law gives residents a share of the savingsNew Jersey requires that NJ residents who sign up to support these farms receive a guaranteed discount on their electric bill. It's built into state law — not a promotion that can be taken away.
3
You sign up — nothing else changesYou sign up once online in about 3 minutes. Your electric company stays the same. Nothing is installed at your home. No one comes to your door. You just start receiving credits on your regular bill automatically every month.

Your bill just comes in lowerEach month your regular JCP&L, PSE&G, Atlantic City Electric, or Rockland Electric bill arrives with a credit already applied. You pay less. That's the whole experience from your end.
Ready to sign up? It takes about 3 minutes and there's no cost.
No. JCP&L stays JCP&L. PSE&G stays PSE&G. Your electric service doesn't change at all. You stay with the same company and get the same service — your bill just has a credit on it.
Does anything get installed at my home? +
Nothing. No panels, no equipment, no technicians. The solar farm is located somewhere else in NJ — on a warehouse rooftop or large property. Nothing changes at your home whatsoever.
What's the catch? +
There isn't one. New Jersey law requires utilities to make this program available. You're claiming a credit you're entitled to. There is no cost to sign up, no equipment to buy, and you can cancel at any time for free.
Will I get a second bill from a solar company? +
No. Everything shows up on your one regular utility bill. The credit appears as a line item on your existing bill and the amount you owe is automatically reduced. One bill, same as always.
Is this program going to disappear or change? +
It's a permanent state-regulated program established by the NJ Board of Public Utilities. However, the available spots fill up each year — once the capacity for the year is subscribed, new signups have to wait until the next enrollment period.
Can I cancel if I change my mind? +
Yes, at any time and at no cost. There is no cancellation fee and no long-term commitment required.
Do I need to own my home to qualify? +
No. Renters qualify just as well as homeowners. The only requirement is that you have a JCP&L, PSE&G, Atlantic City Electric, or Rockland Electric account in your name.
How do I get the $50 egift card? +
When you sign up using the link on this page and your enrollment is approved, you automatically receive a $50 egift card. It has to be through the link on this site — if you sign up directly through another source the egift card won't apply.
